Paléoépidémiologie de la tuberculose humaine
Abstract:
The Paleopathology of specific infectious diseases has recently shown to be able to provide new data about human tuberculosis, dated prior to domestication and at its early stages, and raising the question about the new human diseases due to bacterial jump species.
In two Pre-Pottery Neolithic sites in Syria, strong evidence of tuberculosis has been reported by a multidisciplinary analysis on Dja'de el-Mughara and Tell aswad from Syria, corresponding to ancient TB cases from pre-and early domestication contexts (Baker et al. 2017; 2015).
The focus of my project is to include new human and animal bone material from Neolithic and post Neolithic periods (Syria and Jordan), and one Paleolithic site of Kocabaş (Turkey).
The goal is multiple: to contribute to the debate on evolution scenario of human tuberculosis (during the Neolithic) and to observe the prevalence of tuberculosis in different contexts (post-Neolithic).
