The discovery of wild emmer wheat in Israel and of wild einkorn wheat in eastern Turkey and Northern Syria, together with archaeobotanical evidence, all point to the Fertile Crescent as the cradle of agriculture.
The findings of domesticated wheat seeds in archaeological sites indicate that wheat was domesticated more than 10,000 years ago.
